What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is a citizen science project where local community members, volunteers, and scientists collaborate to record all the species they can find in a specific area. This is a fun learning experience for those participating and enables researchers to gather information about animal and plant species and an area’s biodiversity.

BioBlitzes are time and location restricted, so that the data can be quantitatively analysed by scientists within a defined timeframe. To observe a variety of species, aim for at least half an hour in each area. The overall BioBlitz will take place across July 27th – 29th for around two to three hours per day. In addition, as part of our BioBlitz, join us in celebrating World Conservation Day on July 28th!
